Mapping the Lake

An immersive theatrical adventure on the shores of Lake Macquarie.

In 2016, over 80 young people collaborated with professional artists from Tantrum, LMCAG, and Ngarrama Productions to tell their stories, with Tantrum undergoing two in-school residencies with Valentine Public School and Toronto High School.

Put on your walking shoes and come on an after-dark adventure.
Navigate your way from north to south, exploring what it means to live by the Lake.
Immerse yourself in storytelling, song, movement, and multimedia installations
and make your mark on our map for the future.

Six outdoor sites were activated through performance, with the audience using a map to navigate from site to site unlocking stories of environmental, personal, cultural, and recreational significance. The production concluded with an immersive finale inviting the audience to make their mark by placing a flag next to a suburb / landmark on a large map of Lake Macquarie installation.
Audience members shared hopes, dreams, reflections and memories.
