Alana McGaughey is a theatre maker who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama Teaching (K-12) from the University of Newcastle. Since graduating she has worked with young people throughout the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Hunter regions.

With Tantrum, Alana has participated in Trajectory Ensemble in 2019 and 2020, and completed an artist residency in 2022. Alana creates work that often has a focus on the politics of living, on being an engaged participant in the ethics surrounding existence.

Most recently, Alana has directed Grace Under Pressure and operated tech for The Magic Hour, which was featured as part of the UpStage program at the Civic Playhouse. In 2025, Alana has worked at Tantrum as an Associate Artist, producing SURGE for New Annual. She wrote and performed Pick/Pack as part of her Associate Artist residency.
