Bec Sweeney is a senior marketing strategist with 18+ years’ experience creating campaigns, brands and audience experiences across the arts, culture and events landscape. Currently working within City of Newcastle, she shapes the development and delivery of marketing initiatives for a diverse portfolio of cultural institutions, venues and major events. Her work sits at the intersection of strategy and storytelling – strengthening brand clarity, guiding creative direction and ensuring campaigns connect in ways that feel both intentional and intuitive. Her career began in the world of theatre, live events and creative communities, promoting major touring productions, producing festivals and leading independent creative spaces such as The Roost Creative. Through her consultancy ‘Talk to Bec’, she partnered with artists, collectives and cultural organisations to bring ideas to life, often working at the edge of what was possible with limited resources and big ambition. She developed a reputation for bringing ideas to life through a mix of insight, instinct and connection. This foundation continues to shape her approach today. Bec brings a deep belief in the role creativity plays in building empathy, connection and a sense of belonging, and a track record of translating that belief into campaigns, experiences and cultural moments that people genuinely feel part of.

This professional development session is presented as part of Tantrum’s Cartwheel program, proudly supported by City of Newcastle.
